What kind of indoor house plant should I buy for my living room?

I have a livingroom in an upper unit, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The large window faces east. I would like to put a house plant or a tree of some sort in that room. I do not have a green thumb and would like something low maintenance that will not grow too big too quickly that I would have to get rid of it. I also have to have something pet friendly, because I have a dog. I really like magnolia trees, but they are too big. What kind of plant would you recommend that I get. It would be potted and go either next to my couch on a end table, or on the floor. Would prefer a tree-type plant, but open to suggestions. We keep the temp in the house around 65-75 degrees. Thanks!

Reply:dried flowers or artificial shrubs go to your local garden centre .tell them the colours you like and ask for advice on the ideal plants for that window goodluck
Reply:i just got hawaiian orchids.
Reply:Look at colius. They come in many different variations and are beautiful, colorful plants with low-maintenance. They aren't tree-like but I think you will like them.
