Do house plants sweat, if yes what makes them sweat?

MASTER GARDENER TO THE RESCUE! sweating plants?? why not? mine work up a sweat every time i make them weed their garden. just kidding. garden humor.

no sweat on answering this question. no, sorry, they don't sweat. what you maybe seeing is condensation forming like the morning dew. the moisture you are seeing comes from the air, not the plant. the only other time you would see what you might confuse as sweat would be sap leaking from some damage to the outer layer.

i assume by sweat you mean a clear liquid, like water in color? because there are other reasons for leakage, but none are clear in color.

one of my students suggest a scarf around the trunk to keep salty sweat from burning the roots. (she is not one of my brighter students)

if your plant is putting out some form of liquid, better check for damage? a bit more info would be helpful next time. type of plant, size, health club membership, the usual information i get on plants. (i can't wait to read what others are going to tell you about? some answers are always a good giggle on hump day)

Do house plants sweat, if yes what makes them sweat?
House plant should not sweat unless you have them in a special room where the humidity is kept abnormality high or they are being misted by automatic mister...in either case they would not be technically sweating just not able to absorb the extra moisture in the room..

Most houseplants will love you if you made them look like they are sweating, They love a good misting. And will be happy little campers...(just please don't take them to the gym with you. they is no worse sight than a rubber plant forced to run a tread mill..he..he..)

Get Jerry Baker's books to really learn how to keep you house plants thriving!

Good Luck
