My retaining wall is on the north side of my house. What are the best plants according to feng-shui rules?

The North is the Kan trigram which represents Water and the deep abyss and maximum yin. Plants that have blue %26gt;indigo%26gt;black flowers. Cyclamen and Violas, black pansies, black-eyed susans and aquatic plants. Herbs such as mint, thyme and chives. Trees such as magnolia, silver birch, dogwood, juniper, honeysuckle and tea tree.

When you plant bed try to use freeform, irregular or wavy shaped bed and borders.

In Feng Shui certain plants and trees are considered to be more fortunate than others. Succulent plants, like those with thick water laden leaves are deemed most auspicious. The Jade plant, Silver Crown (Cotyledon undulata), Money Plant (Philodendron scandens), and of course Bamboo which is considered to be a symbol of peace and prosperity.

As for flowers, the Peony, Chrysanthemum, Plum Blossom flower, Narcissus and other bulbs, Lily, Magnolia, and Orchid.

It would be ideal if your retaining wall or boundary be curved or irregular.

Good Luck with your gardening.

Where are you planning to put the plants? As a general rule, almost any plant brings positive chi into the home, regardless of where they are put (keep them out of the bedroom %26amp; bathroom unless you know specifically that they will work there though). A lot of the time the choice of plant comes down to what you know how to look after and what's practical for your home.

You should grab a bagua map if you can and align it with your front door, and find out what gua your retaining wall falls in. This will tell you what to put there.

According to feng shui rules, those plants with sharp pointed leaves are best for outside of the house.
