Is it all right to let it stay so close to the exterior walls? Should I get rid of it or should I just trim it so there'll be some space between the plants and the walls? Thanks.
Is it okay to have leafy plants so close to the house?
It would help with bug problems if you trimmed them away from your house. Otherwise they are fine.
Reply:Having alot of plants close to or growing on your foundation can cause excess moisture to be held against the foundation. It looks like your house has masonry on the bottom. As long as there is no exposed wood to absorb the moisture and rot, the plants should be fine. Mold may grow behind the plants in the shade. If you have any allergies that may influence your decision to keep the plants.
Reply:Looks like euonymus, a vine like shrub. Plants close to the house do no damage, just think of the number of historical buildings with ivy covering the walls.
