My cat keeps chewing on the house plants. Can I put something on them to keep the cat from chewing them?

Cats don't like citrus smells....like orange or lemon.....squeeze some on or near the plants...it should help....

Spray plant and pot with ammonia water they have to sniff and will not like it. Plus it will not hurt the animal.

Reply:You can try dusting the plants with pepper, for a while until your moggy realises not to go there, or consider buying your cat its own plant..they adore catnip...Hope these help..good luck.
Reply:be sure to check out that one site the other person gave you and the chilli pepper or grannys bitter apple spray. vets use grannys bitter apple spray on casts and stuff to keep dogs from biting on them as well as cats. but if you want a plant for her/him to chew on grow catnip or wheat grass. sometimes pets do that so it calms there stomachs.
Reply:buy your can his own plants that he can chew on. Cat nip might be a good choice.
Reply:You just have to get the plants away - that's the only thing to do, since some plants are poisonous to cats, and they make messes with the dirt, too. I've moved mine to higher shelves, and have some hanging. That's the price we pay for having the furry creatures....
Reply:This is what you do. Get a spray bottle with water and when you see your cat chewing on your plants spray her. It will take a few times but eventually that will end it. In fact, it will get to the point that when she sees you with the spray bottle she will run before you even have time to squirt her. That is how I kept my cat from chewing on my plants and jumping on my kitchen counters.
Reply:Since so many plants are poison to cats, I decided years ago that I loved my cats more than I like the plants and don't have any in the house. Nothing I ever tried kept them away from plants for very long.
Reply:Disolve 1 tlb spoon of chilli powder into a spray bottle and spray only one leaf of your plant first to see whether it will effect your plant. If it does affect yor plant dont use. Lemon juice and vinegar works wonders to but if the chilli powder spray doesnt effect your plants I would go for that your cat would definately stop chewing your plants. Just make sure that you have fresh water available.
Reply:Get your flyswatter and swish it around the cat. Be careful not to hit the cat!

Reply:Spray the leaves with a solution of dish soap and water. Use very little soap. This will taste bad for the cat and kill any bugs as well!
