My palm tree house plants are all browning on the tips does anyone know what may be causing this and I can do?

user Random Knowledge is right. Browning leaf tips is generally due to Chlorine, but also Flouride in the water. So like he says, leave the water sit out overnight to let those 2 evaporate and that should help a lot. And yes, trim the dead tips off... if you cut them at an angle they will look more natural. Actually, I'd suggest even tearing/ripping the dead tips off. See which works best for you. The idea behind tearing/ripping the dead tips off is that when you cut a leaf, you cut through some cells which will also die and brown a bit whereas if you tear/rip cells are not damaged as much and there'll be less additional browning. I haven't had an opportunity to notice much difference yet, but it's worth a shot.

I am assuming you are using tap water to hydrate them. LEt the water sit out overnight before watering, the chlorene may be affecting the leaves.
Reply:You are describing leaf tip necrosis. House plants dry out much faster than plants outside because houses are very dry in nature, especially in the winter. The moisture gets sucked out of the leaves and the soil pretty fast.

If you arent good about watering, go to your local garden center and pick up some moisture crystals. They retain water a lot longer than the soil can, and release it slowly to the plant as it needs it. There are other options out there too, ask in the greenhouse section of your garden center.

Good luck.
Reply:It sounds like it's not getting enough water. Make sure to water thoroughly each time you water. Could also be because the soil gets dried out in between waterings.

Reply:I agree with tinytalk, not enough water. On my plant, the brown areas would never grow back, so I trimmed them off. I noticed my local botanical conservatory did the same thing with their “Bird of Paradise”. I looked at the base and it had it had several dead “stumps” cut off 2” off the ground. Any botanists out there, that can help us out?
