Why house plants turn brown on the edges sometimes?

none of the above!! its to do with your central heating and a dry atmosphere, the leaves get singed by the dry arid conditons best thing to do is put a bowl of gravel in your room somewhere discreet then fill it with water to humidify your room top up every few days and bingo!! within a few weeks new plants!!

Why house plants turn brown on the edges sometimes?
either too much or too little water, or too much sun or not enough.

I know this doesn't narrow it down much, but it's true. The leaves will turn yellow if they are short on water then die off.

Good luck and with the warm weather coming, you should be OK.
Reply:Not enough water? Or not enough sun light!
Reply:In that case just move the plant outside for a couple of weeks and you'll see the plant comes back to life..?
Reply:They can also brown because they are getting too much water. If the leaves are dry and there is not much new growth then chances are you need to water it more and give it better sun. If the leaves are browning and there is still some new growth then chances are you are over watering. The main thing to look for in new growth, as long as there is some new growth don't worry too much. Lastly, take a look at the tag for the plant or look up the care instructions online. This may also give you a tip on what you may be doing wrong.
