Why do gnats live in house plants?

The ants in your house plants are called fungus gnats. They thrive in wet soils. Use a systemic insecticide available in any garden center to put on the soil of each plant and they will be gone in no time.

they are probably fungas gnats. the soil stays to wet. let the soil dry atleast an inch down. id say 2-3 inches unless its a fern.
