What kind of house plant works best in a dorm room?

I want to get a house plant for my dorm room next semester, to liven things up a little bit. I want one that doesn't bloom, and I don't want a bonsai.

What kind of house plant works best in a dorm room?
Consider getting an aloe plant. Not only do they not bloom, they are VERY handy to have around if you need the aloe for burns, cuts, etc. Little maintenance and they will continue to grow.
Reply:A ficus. It just needs to be watered a few times a week and it will grow like crazy. You just have to be careful if you move it to a garden, it's root can take off and it can very large without regular pruning..
Reply:Spider plants are pretty easy to care for, and forgiving.

You should consider silk plants as well, there are some really good looking ones these days.
Reply:what about a fern or lucky bamboo.
Reply:You can try peppers and Venus Fly Traps.
Reply:Get a plastic one.
Reply:Depends on what type of light the plant will be getting, but just about any house plant is dorm compatible. My friend loved to keep cacti because they didn't require much watering or maintance and she had a southern facing window in her room, so they were pretty healthy all year long and were not hard to transport back home.

Good Luck!
