Ist here a natural way to get rid of those gnats that sometimes infest house plants?

Those things are evil, I swear! I have tried the sand method and it didn't work for me. Those bugs are called fungus gnats. They lay eggs in the top 1-2 inches of soil. They need the moisture in the soil to survive. I scrapped off the top two inches of my potting soil and replaced it with new potting soil but didn't water it. You will want to water your plant sparingly. Let it dry out as much as possible between watering's, but only what your plant can tolerate of course. As for those little buggers that fly all around your plant, place a small bowl of water with a few drops of dish soap in it, and set the bowl next to your plant. These bugs will just start to basically kill themselves. Don't be at all surprised if you catch well over a hundred of them. Every few days or a week, you can change the water and start counting dead ones again. I would leave the water there until you are no longer catching any more bugs. This may take a few weeks. The best part about the dish soap is that it wont harm your family or pets since its non toxic. Good Luck!!!

The last time my friend tried and couldnt succeed, he burnt the house.
Reply:They are fungus gnats. Sprinkle a little cornmeal in the pot %26amp; be

sure not to let the plant stand in water.
Reply:wash off the plant, using your hands to remove any bugs, put a tad of joy dishwashing solution in the water you water your plant soil with. That should take care of them. If not there is always Raid yard and garden spray. Spray from the bottom up (getting the bottom of the leaves and stems rather than the top of the leaf so the leaf can still breathe. Be sure to hold the spray away from your face (and don't breathe in until you walk away). Wash your hands with soap afterwards, wash the sink and rinse with lots of water, washing the buggers down the drain.
Reply:Get a Venus Flytrap.
Reply:Buy Pets flea and tick shampoo, fill some in a spray bottle and delute with water. Take plants outside and spray on the plants/leafes.

leave outside for a vew hours untill all the insects are gone
Reply:chewing tobacco sprinkled in the soil befor watering
Reply:A little dish soap in a spray bottle, try and get the gnats, but spraying directly on the plant will deter for sure.( Mix about 20-1 with water.)
Reply:I don't know how natural it is but florists have recommended a spray bottle with water and a small amount of liquid detergent(non toxic). Just spray on and around the house plant and it should eliminate gnats. Good luck!
Reply:Natural? Like taking a flyswatter and killing everyone of them?
Reply:Read this on here yesterday.

A little sand on top of the soil and water from the bottom.

The little buggy eggs are in the soil close to the top, (I assume) and watering from the top lets them hatch. The sand will absorb moisture and allow the eggs to dry out and die. (I assume).
